1. Purchase a small backpack or bag to hold the contents or your Emergency Car Kit. You can also use a box.
2. Purchase or make a first aid kit.
3. Check to make sure that the vehicle has all of the necessary items to change a tire. This means a working jack, spare tire (in good condition), tire iron, and a pipe for leverage. Usually these items are already in your vehicle. Check your owners manual for proper use and where the items are located.
4. Have a flashlight with fresh batteries.
5. Include several rags and a funnel.
6. Purchase all of the necessary fluids that keep your vehicle running. 2 qts. of oil, a gallon of water and antifreeze, brake fluid, power-steering fluid (only if needed), and automatic transmission fluid (only if needed).
7. Purchase a small tool kit.
8. Purchase waterless hand cleaner.
Other items you may want to include:
Flares or triangles, a tarp for sitting on, jumper cables, snack food and a book, a blanket, and a disposable camera(for accidents).
